A preliminary investigation of absorber embedded waste crown corks on the performance of passive solar still

Abstract Solar still is the main cost-effective methods of purifying water in remote areas with no access to grid connected electricity, and expensive piping network. One major drawbacks this technology has been detected as low distillate output when compared modern but purification methods. In work, a sensible heat storage material (waste crown corks) which are freely available causing nuisance environment investigated for productivity enhancement. To achieve objective, two solar stills similar materials dimensions were designed fabricated. without modification (conventional type) other modified by embedding waste corks on absorber plate. The results evidenced that incorporating can improve efficiency 25.64% 42.96% respectively, conventional type. It showed plastic be used enhancing passive than any materials.
